Assist with budget management, process improvement, and provide strategic financial guidance to the team. Provide support to the supervisor in their daily tasks.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESAccounting
Conduct a thorough review of international accounting records to ensure the correct application of account codes and adherence to accounting standards, internal procedures, and donor regulations, as applicable. Adress and report on reconciling items, overdue balances and corrections.
Scrutinize international payroll accounting transactions and verify the reconciliation of related accounts. Develop a month-end close checklist and communicate any unbalanced account figures.
Facilitate the communication of reconciliation items and ensure appropriate corrections are enacted. Discuss reconciliation and other accounting issues with the supervisor.
Examine all other corporate accounting entries, as necessary.
Coordinate outstanding workforce tickets and the workforce process.
Financial analysis / reports
Contribute to the development of long-term goals of International Finance department, aligning financial initiatives with the organization's overall mission and vision.
Effectively communicate financial results and analyses to internal and external stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights to assist decision-making.
Review and verify the accuracy of international finance consolidated reports, ensuring they are submitted promptly. Collaborate on providing feedback related to these reports.
Assist in the preparation of documents and schedules for internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address audit findings as needed.
Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of monthly cash requests for federal awards projects.
Monitor the reporting of subrecipient details through the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) and ensure timely submission of reports.
Prepare additional reports, analyses, and ad hoc reports as requested by other departments, the supervisor, and senior management.
If necessary, ensure that reports and analyses are reviewed by the supervisor.
Systems and process development /implementation
Works with other staff on new system developments providing input related to accounting and finance.
Ensures that newly developed reports are reconciled and accurate. Consolidate and communicate feedback on the report review.
Other
Engage in daily correspondence with other HQ team members regarding all finance matters and coordinate related activities.
Propose and develop innovative solutions to address business and process challenges and inefficiencies. Collaborate with project teams and various internal business units to test new business processes and solutions. Collaborate with other departments and teams to gather and analyze financial data, providing insights to support their goals and projects.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and optimal financial management.
Recommend and implement various initiatives aimed at enhancing financial processes, systems, reporting, and controls within the finance and accounting team.
Mentor recently onboarded team members within the department and deliver training sessions covering financial and accounting subjects to the International Finance team
Visits the country missions and HQ offices when/if needed.
Other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Typically, a 4-year Bachelor's degree in a three-cycle Higher Education in the field of Economics (Accounting and/or Finance preferred). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Minimum 7 years of relevant overall accounting and finance experience, including 3+ years of experience in financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills preferred
Fluency in English with a proven ability to express himself/herself well verbally and in writing
Knowledge of accounting standards, financial systems, procedures and donor regulations
Able to perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations. Problem solving oriented.
Precision in financial record-keeping, data entry, and report preparation is essential to maintain financial accuracy.
An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other staff and to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis
